Acholi and Lango sub region registered the highest number of teenage pregnancy as per 2017/2018 with Lira district standing out as the most affected district with over 594 teenage pregnancies registered while 516 and 472 were recorded in Adekokwok sub county.However,as per 2019 statistics,Adjumani district registers the highest rate or level of early pregnancies with 25%.
Monica Aoyo a mother of three children and a resident in Lira Municipality says she got her first child at the age of 12 years after getting so much pressure from her parents due to the fact that they sought she was mature enough to get married. Aoyo further says that the circumstances in her home also forced her to elope with her boyfriend at the time,issues such as poverty,sexual violence with in her community,domestic violence as wellas the pressure from her parents catalyzed her to become a victim of the circumstance
